Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP) is proud to announce that Natalie Bachynsky, Ph.D., FNP, a longtime TNP member and family nurse practitioner, has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Texas Nutrition Advisory Committee. Dr. Bachynsky will serve in this statewide leadership role through September 1, 2027.
This appointment reflects the growing recognition of nurse practitioners as trusted leaders in healthcare delivery, prevention, and policy development across Texas. It also marks an important step in ensuring that frontline clinical expertise is represented in statewide health discussions.
The Texas Nutrition Advisory Committee was established under Senate Bill 25 (Make Texas Healthy Again), passed during the 89th Legislative Session. The committee is tasked with developing statewide nutrition guidelines and advising on continuing education priorities for healthcare providers. Its work will help shape preventive care strategies, chronic disease management, and long-term public health outcomes for Texans.
Dr. Bachynsky brings extensive clinical experience and community leadership to the committee. She owns and operates Houston County Family Medical Clinic, where she provides primary care services to rural East Texas communities. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Bachynsky is actively engaged in professional and policy leadership through Texas Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and multiple advisory boards focused on rural health access and nursing education.
