NICOLE PETERS KROLL
Nicole Peters Kroll, PhD, APRN, ANP-C, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, FAAN, FAANP, is a triple board-certified nurse practitioner, rural health leader, educator, researcher, and advocate dedicated to expanding access to care for rural and medically underserved communities. As a Clinical Associate Professor at Texas A&M University College of Nursing, she has spent more than 25 years advancing nurse practitioner practice through innovation in clinical care, education, research, and policy.
Dr. Kroll is nationally recognized for developing nurse practitioner-led mobile health, behavioral health, and telehealth programs that bring comprehensive primary and mental healthcare directly into rural Texas communities. Rather than asking patients to overcome barriers to care, she has helped transform the model itself by bringing healthcare to schools and underserved communities through innovative mobile clinics that integrate primary care, behavioral health, telehealth, and workforce development.
As principal investigator and co-principal investigator, Dr. Kroll has secured and led more than $15 million in competitive funding to improve rural healthcare access, strengthen the healthcare workforce, and expand behavioral health services. Her scholarship in rural health, telehealth, artificial intelligence, and simulation-based education has been published nationally, and through her leadership on the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Telehealth Committee, she has helped advance telehealth education for nurse practitioner programs across the country.
A passionate advocate for the profession, Dr. Kroll has provided invited testimony before the Texas Senate on healthcare policy and continues to prepare the next generation of nurse practitioners through innovative educational models. Her leadership has earned national recognition, including Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Outstanding Faculty Practice Award. Through visionary leadership and an unwavering commitment to service, Dr. Kroll continues to shape the future of nurse practitioner practice while improving the health of rural communities across Texas and the nation.
