VISHNU MAYA UPADHYAY
Dr. Vishnu Maya Upadhyay, DNP, APRN, WHNP-C, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, is a triple-certified nurse practitioner specializing in family, women’s health, and mental health, with more than two decades of dedicated experience. She began her nursing career in 1991 after graduating from Raj Kamari Amrit Kaur College in New Delhi, India. In 2000, she earned her Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner certification from UT Southwestern, followed by her Family Nurse Practitioner certification from Texas Woman’s University in 2008. She earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice with high distinction from Chamberlain University in 2017, and in 2021, she added a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from Brandman University.
Since 2013, Dr. Upadhyay has owned and operated a healthcare clinic, where she not only provides patient care but also mentors nurse practitioners on launching and running independent practices. Her clinic serves as a training site for registered nurses, NP students, pre-physician assistants, medical students, and medical assistant students. She has published professional papers on topics such as grief after miscarriage and depression in young adults. She has been recognized with honors, including Best Nurse Practitioner from North Texas Nurse Practitioner and Best Nurse Practitioner Preceptor from Texas Nurse Practitioner.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Upadhyay is deeply committed to community health leadership. She holds leadership positions in the Dallas Everest Lions Club (DELC), Mobile Medical Care Unit, and the USA-Nepal Community Outreach Network (UNCON), a US-based nonprofit. In these roles, she has organized numerous health camps and public health seminars to promote a healthy lifestyle and cancer awareness. She also served as the Health Advisor to the Mayor of Mesquite. Her current initiatives include leading a 10-day medical mission to Nepal in November 2025, aimed at reducing healthcare disparities in underserved regions. This past June, she was recognized as one of the Top 100 Nurses in DFW by DFW Great 100 Nurses.
