Jennifer is a certified family nurse practitioner providing primary and obesity care in rural Texas. She is an alumnus of the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston and a Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA). Her passion is the prevention and treatment of obesity. She is a connector and collaborator, using these skills to break down barriers to comprehensive obesity care in the community she serves and beyond. She holds certificates in obesity management from the OMA, the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), and The Obesity Society (TOS).
She is active in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners’ obesity special interest group and has been instrumental in helping other organizations develop obesity specialty groups and conference content. She mentors fellow NPs, PAs, and physician colleagues regionally and nationally through her professional affiliations. She is a frequently invited speaker on treating obesity across the lifespan, from adolescents through geriatrics, in the primary care setting. She currently serves on the boards of Houston Obesity Partnership for Excellence (HOPE) and the Texas Nurse Practitioner Foundation.
She enjoys assisting organizations at the ground level to best serve the needs of patients and members alike. Jennifer is also active in healthcare advocacy, serving as Legislative Ambassador for Texas Senate District 17 and as chair of TNP’s Political Advisory Council. She strives to be a resource for students and colleagues, sharing knowledge graciously shared with her over the years through meaningful mentor relationships.
