MSN, APRN, ANP-BC
Carmen has been a nurse practitioner since 2008. She worked at ExxonMobil’s corporate headquarters for 22 years in the medical and occupational health department.
She has served as a TNP Legislative Ambassador and has worked with legislators and candidates to advance Full Practice Authority for Texas NPs. She is an active member of AANP and North Texas Nurse Practitioners (NTNP) and a legacy member of TNP. She previously served as NTNP’s secretary and is on the boards of NTNP and the TNP Foundation, as well as the NTNP conference planning committee.
She currently works with active-duty service members, providing physical and mental health assessments to ensure they are able to serve in the armed forces of the United States and safely deploy as needed. She has volunteered since 2009 as an NP at a clinic in Irving, TX, that provides medical care at no cost to low-income and uninsured patients. Additionally, she has been instrumental in securing grant funding for laptops and equipment for that clinic.
She is an active member of her church, where she teaches three-year-olds. She has volunteered with Flags for Fallen Soldiers at DFW National Cemetery since its inception and is an avid supporter of Carry the Load, a national organization that honors and remembers America’s heroes.
Her hobbies include traveling and reading, and she is a passionate Texas Rangers fan.
She believes NPs are the future of healthcare in the United States, especially in Texas.
