PRECEPTOR OF THE YEAR
MADY STOVALL
Dr. Mady Stovall has been a nurse practitioner since 2004 – and is dual certified as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and adult nurse practitioner. She began her nursing career as an oncology registered nurse in 1995. Throughout her career, Dr. Stovall has published many times, in books and journals, and is frequently sought after as a speaker.
Her research focuses on moral injury in nurses involved with medical errors. After completing her PhD, she decided to diversify her NP credentials so that she could provide mental health care, so she obtained her credentials as a PMHNP. She joined the Transitional Care Clinic in 2022 where she provides care to seriously mentally ill clients who have recently been hospitalized.
Dr. Stovall also serves as the consult liaison for psychiatry at UT Health Multispecialty Research Hospital. Over the past year, Dr. Stovall has supervised nurse practitioner students in over 1000 clinical training hours. She holds faculty appointments in both the School of Medicine and School of Nursing and is the Director of Advanced Practice Providers at UT San Antonio.
