BOARD MEMBER AT LARGE

JUSTIN CULLERS
MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Justin is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who specializes in individualized psychotherapy combined with medication management. He currently serves as a TNP Board Member at Large and as a member of the TNP Policy Council. His focus has been on educating and organizing TNP members to advocate for pro-APRN legislation.

He was honored with the 2020 TNP Visionary Award for his role in the ground-up development of Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses of Texas (PAPN Texas). Justin served as the first President of PAPN Texas and is a former President of PAPN Austin. He developed and continues to lead the 1st Year PMHNP Support Group which provides guidance and peer connectivity to new graduates.

A veteran who served in the Gulf War (1991) as an Army Combat Medic, he was inspired to become a PMHNP while treating traumatized service members as an Army Nurse at Brooke Army Medical Center during the early months of the Iraq War. Justin earned his MSN from the University of Texas-Austin and furthered his clinical training by completing the two-year Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy program through the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies in Houston. He hopes that his work as a nurse practitioner helps make the world a kinder place.
