Congratulations to Elizabeth Fuselier Ellis, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP, CRCHP, who was recently elected to serve on the Rural Education Foundation Board, a 501(c)3 subsidiary of the National Association of Rural Health Clinics (NARHC). The REF’s mission is to expand public interest in rural health by conducting or promoting research on the role of Rural Health Clinics in improving access to quality health care, public policy issues affecting Rural Health Clinics, and their ability to provide quality health care and the economic viability of RHCs.
The REF also provides financial support to Medical students and/or residents, Nurse Practitioner students, Physician Assistant students, and other health profession students deemed appropriate by the Foundation Board seeking to undertake clinical rotations in federally certified Rural Health Clinics. By awarding these scholarships, the Foundation aims to promote the future expansion of rural healthcare, eliminate disparities, and reduce the large number of underserved areas in the US.
Just prior to Elizabeth’s election to the REF Board, she served a five-year term on the NARHC’s Policy Committee, where she worked to influence positive federal policy outcomes for RHCs and promptly inform the RHC community of important legislative, regulatory, grant, and other policy updates. An active member of TNP since 2011, Elizabeth is currently the Assistant Director of Clinical Outreach & Affairs for Texas A&M College of Nursing NP-led CMS Certified Rural Mobile Health Clinic, which is a community-based outreach program that delivers primary care services to rural and medically underserved areas of Texas.
Congratulations, Elizabeth! You make Texas NPs proud!
