On May 21, TNP President Erin Pérez testified for TNP in support of HB 1942, one of the priority bills on TNP’s legislative agenda that would eliminate the requirement that nurse practitioners only enroll in a health insurance plan if their delegating physician also enrolls in that plan.
“HB 1942 passed the House almost unanimously with broad stakeholder support,” Pérez testified. “It’s clean-up legislation that seeks to extend the same flexibilities afforded to Medicaid plans to all state regulated health plans. It will increase flexibility for healthcare practices, improve patient choice, and expand healthcare access in Texas.”
HB 1942 is in the final stages of the legislative process. For HB 1942 to move forward, it needs to be voted out by the Senate Health and Human Services Committee before going to the full Senate floor for a vote.
