This year, one of TNP’s biggest accomplishments was the expansion of our legislative ambassador program, which is now over 200 nurse practitioners strong. The legislative ambassador program is the cornerstone of TNP’s advocacy efforts. By engaging politically in their local communities, our ambassadors are helping us cultivate relationships and educate Texas lawmakers on healthcare policies impacting Texas patients.

On November 10th, TNP held our first-ever in-person ambassador training at the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, Texas. Since then, our ambassadors have hit the ground running in their new roles. Here’s what they’ve been up to:

  • Holiday Visits: Ambassadors from across Texas have been busy delivering gift baskets and other holiday treats to their legislators’ district offices.
  • End-of-Year Contributions: Our ambassadors hand-delivered TNP Political Action Committee contributions to some of our strongest supporters in the Texas legislature, including Senator LaMantia, sponsor of TNP’s Board of Nursing APRN representation bill, and Representative Stephanie Klick and Senator Mayes Middleton, sponsors of our full practice authority bills.
  • Texas Legislative Black Caucus Gala: On December 10th, Texas Nurse Practitioners and legislative ambassadors Dr. Stephanie Brown-Elder and Yohantis Moore participated in the 50th Anniversary Texas Legislative Black Caucus gala—a historic evening celebrating past trailblazers and the continued fight for equity in Texas. TNP is a proud sponsor of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and looks forward to continuing to work with its legislative members to improve access to care for Texans.
