History Made: Texas Elects Its First Nurse Practitioner to the Legislature

By November 4, 2026No Comments

Dear TNP Members,

History has been made, and what a remarkable moment for nurse practitioners across Texas!

Please join me in congratulating longtime TNP member Holly Jeffreys on her historic election to represent Texas House District 86. This is not only a tremendous accomplishment for Holly, but also a defining moment for our profession and the patients and communities we are privileged to serve.

Throughout her career as a nurse practitioner, educator, and rural healthcare leader, Holly has witnessed firsthand the challenges Texans face in accessing quality healthcare. More importantly, she has taken action. Through advocacy, legislative testimony, and unwavering commitment, she has worked to ensure that the voices of patients and nurse practitioners are heard.

Now, she will take that experience, knowledge, and passion directly to the Texas House of Representatives!

This moment represents more than an election. It represents possibilities.

It reminds us that our influence extends far beyond the examination room. Nurse practitioners are clinicians, educators, innovators, advocates, and leaders. We have the knowledge, the experience, and the responsibility to help shape the policies that affect our profession and the people we serve.

As we prepare for the 2027 legislative session, let this historic milestone inspire each of us to become more engaged, more visible, and more intentional about using our voices. Meaningful change does not happen by chance. It happens when we show up, stand together, and take action.

TNP looks forward to working with Holly and legislators across Texas to advance policies that improve access to quality healthcare and strengthen the nurse practitioner workforce.

Congratulations, Holly! We celebrate your achievement, your courage, and the doors your leadership continues to open for others.

If Holly can, you can, and together we can!

Let’s carry this momentum forward. We will see you at TNP’s 2027 Capitol Day! Click here to secure your spot!

Together, we are stronger. Together, we can make a difference.

Warm regards,
